Page Tools.Welcome to IGN’s Walkthrough for Prey. This guide will seek to see you through the confusing and terrifying world - and showcase how to defeat enemies, find collectibles, and everything else along the way.As you enter Alex’s Office, you’ll find he has left you some more gear: A Typhon Lure, 3 more Neuromods, and an Anti-Rad Pharma Fabrication Plan.
Head to his desk and upload the data - only to find it getting stopped by an unknown source. That source is Commander Walther Dahl - a mercenary hired by the TranStar Board of Directors to bring the space station back in line - by stopping you and Alex by any means necessary.
Dahl has come prepared with a team of specialized Military Operators. These enemies are heavily fortified with armor, and use laser beams to quickly cut through your own armor. When the blinds open, three of them will ambush you, so waste no time tossing an EMP Grenade or using Electrostatic Burst on them. If you have Hacking 4, you can turn them to your side, otherwise, use the Q-Beam to quickly destroy them before they can move again. More lurk outside the doors, be ready to lure them in close and take them out before they can react.
The following guide is a detailed and screenshot-full walkthrough for Prey - a first person shooter developed by Human Head Studios. Here you'll find exact hints on how to deal with the problems ahead, and also some information on enemies and bosses you'll encounter. Be wary that nearby Operator Dispensers will be hijacked by Dahl to produce more of his army! It’s important to note that each of the Operator Dispensers can and will be used to produce more Military Operators as you defeat those in the current area. The only real way to circumvent this is to block the area in front of the dispenser. Pile debris in front of it, and you should hear a warning that the dispenser is blocked and cannot be used, meaning reinforcements can’t be created!Otherwise, only a certain number of Operators can be active in an area, and leaving them broken but not destroyed can also give you some breathing room. Side Mission - Ghosting Dahl: January will let you know that Dah’s operators have a lock on your tracking device, and will continue to hunt you down unless you do something about it. If you recall, Danielle Sho had a terminal for tracking and disabling such devices in Deep Storage, which isn’t far from your position.
Deep Storage There will be no rest for you here - not only are more Phantoms and Mimics lurking about, but the nearby Operator dispenser will start spitting out Military Operators to come and stop you. Don’t stop to fight, just keep moving forward and boost upwards into Danielle Sho’s Command Center. If you get mobbed by Operators, you can always stun a group of them with an EMP and toss a Recycler Charge into the pile to evaporate them instantly. Side Mission Update - Mikhaila’s Father: The room to look up Volunteer info is not far from the Command Center, and Dr. Igwe will radio to advise against looking too closely, as you once knew exactly what happened to Mikhaila’s father, and she may not understand.
Enter the room and look up his number find the truth. You can either upload the contents back to your terminal in the Lobby for her to hear (and get a reward), or keep her in the dark by saying the files were purged. With everything taken care of in Deep Storage, it’s time to form a plan to stop Dahl’s attack. Head back up through the Arboretum and down into the Talos 1 Lobby by way of elevator. By now you should have a few more objectives that will have popped up in the Lobby.Talos 1 Lobby. Side Mission - Help Luther Glass: While escaping from Dahl’s robots, you may be contacted by a man named Luther Glass who is holed up in the Medical Center on the second floor of the Lobby, and needs help.
However, we’ve already been there and found Luther Glass to be dead, which means you’d be walking into a trap. There’s no real reward for springing the trap - unless you really want to take on several Military Operators in close quarters. Bringing EMP Grenades or having turrets ready is highly recommended if you do, and don’t stay long, as the Operator dispenser will keep making more unless you stack boxes in front of it.Be sure to stop by your quarters again, Dr.
Igwe has a new Scope Chipset for you, and you can craft and recycle new gear. Side Mission Update - Gustav Leitner and Incapacitate Dahl: Be sure to speak with Dr.
Igwe regarding Dahl’s attack on the space station, and get a new Scope Chipset for giving him Gutav’s connectome. If you want to try your hand at not killing Dahl, Igwe suggest knocking him out and removing his Neuromods - and therefore his memories about the mission he is on. With killing you out of his mind, you may be able to use him as a pilot to get off the ship, but knocking him out is a task you will have to do alone. Shuttle Bay Entering the Shuttle Bay, you’ll find Dahl has already set up a defensive perimeter of turrets and operators that are busy clearing out Phantoms. Stealth around the side of the foyer and slink into the Sky Lounge to find the body of Eddie Voss, who holds a GLOO Cannon and TranScribe Audiolog: Smuggling Ring Confession.Nearby you can also find a Silenced Pistol. Cross the foyer to the other side to find the body of David Simmons, and note the nearby Shuttle Control Room is locked.
Instead, look above at the battered ceiling installation for a pathway up to a duct that gets you an alternate entrance in - bypassing the defended foyer exit. Be sure to grab the Wrench and Neuromod in the duct before exiting out into the control room. The Grav Shaft here is powered down, and the door to the nearby Information Booth needs a key.Steer clear of the windows while you make your way to the corpse of Tom Cooper, and then look for to spy some pieces of GLOO in the rafters where you dropped down. On the other side is another hatch that leads to power controls for the Grav Shaft, and a way up to Control Tower too.
There’s a few Operators to deal with, so be ready with electrical attacks. Note that there’s also a operator dispenser nearby - stack up debris in front of it to prevent reinforcements from deploying.Mia Bayer’s Office Head left from the grav shafts to enter Mia Bayer’s office. There’s a Mimic and Greater Mimic hiding in the room somewhere - enter cautiously. At the end of the office is a level 3 locked terminal and safe, as well as a Suit Chipset on the desk. The terminal has an email mentioning the windows can be broken (though you’ll need to use mimicry to get past the bars), and the safe contains 2 Nullwave Transmitters and 2 Neuromods.Control Tower From the grav shafts, look for a nearby broken bridge leading across to the isolated Control Tower. Two Operators are waiting in here, but a well placed electric attack can stun them long enough for you to hack or destroy them.
Once they are cleared out, look for the body of Mia Bayer at a nearby desk. She holds an interesting flight log, as well as a TranScribe Audiolog: Can You Get to Us. There’s also a Shotgun nearby along with a Weapon Upgrade Kit.Out on the opposite balcony is a Neuromod, and you can look down to spot the body of Rodrigo Diaz - but don’t risk compromising your position just yet. Instead, head to the front of the Control Tower to find a Shuttle Control terminal. Use it to extend the bridge to the shuttle, giving you a route to bypass the turrets and operators straight to the shuttle door.
Use your thruster to ease yourself onto the shuttle - but don’t enter the shuttle just yet, we’re going to clear out the room first before we get our next objective.Sneak up on the two turrets and either hack or destroy them - and they’ll take out the nearby operators for you. Quickly plug up the operator dispenser in the lobby with luggage cases so more won’t swarm you. You should now be able to enter the Information booth by crawling up above the barriers, and check the body of Blaine Cooly for a Shotgun, Neuromod, and ammo. There’s also a Weapon Upgrade Kit nearby.
You can also hack the nearby security terminal to download a map of the area.Pilot Planning Lounge Next, look to the side from the bridge for a cage-like hallway leading to the Pilot Lounge. There’s an Operator roaming the hall with a turret at the far end - if you want to be sneaky, float up to the fixtures above the hall to drop down behind the turret and hack it. To enter the lounge, you should have the keycode for this level 3 locked door from Octavia’s body in the Talos Lobby’s Staff Lounge.Inside, in addition to lockers full of loot, you can find a Suit Repair Kit Fabrication Plan on the main desk, next to a Shuttle Control Room Keycard and Neuromod.
Side Mission Derelict Shuttle: Look for the body of Galel Seif in the Pilot Lounge to find a TranScribe Audiolog: Mayday: Bridge - from Hunter Hale who seems to have had trouble bringing a shuttle in. We’ll have to find out what happened to that shuttle. Be sure to check in at the security station terminal later to track Hunter Hale’s location out on the Talos 1 Exterior. Before we find a way down into the Machine Pit that’s crawling with more Operators, check the end of the hall from the Pilot Lounge to descend into the Escape Pod Bay.Escape Pod Bay. Side Mission Escape Attempt: As you enter the bay, you’ll get a message from Frank and Emmanuella, they’re trapped in one of the escape pods that failed to launch, and need someone to manually blow the hatch from the outside. While in the pod, be sure to inspect all the dead bodies who failed to get to their escape pods.
Nils Kjaergaard has a TranScribe Audiolog: They’re Just Animals. Donald Hal lies on the nearby stairs holding ammo and an EMP Grenade, and Todd Matsuyama lies nearby one of the departed escape pods. Near the end of the central platform, Drew Springer lies dead near a supply crate, and holds a TranScribe Audiolog: It’s Your Job to Know. Up on the other side, a Mimic waits in one of the pods, while the body of Leon Woods lies near a broken pod door, can you can spot a Suit Chipset inside - but you’ll have to use Mimicry to get inside.Once you’ve explored the area, head back up the stairs and down the long hall to the Grav Shaft leading down to the Mechanic Pit. Be wary, the bottom floor is crawling with more Military Operators.Mechanic Pit As you exit the grav shaft, be ready to take one one or two Military Operators hovering nearby. Quickly crouch and slink along right past the Recycler to a gate with a fire you need to put out with the GLOO Cannon.
On the other side of the gate, a locked door to the Mechanic Facilities separates you from some angry Typhon - move past them and round the corner to find the last Operator Dispenser in this area by the entrance to G.U.T.S. Block it up with whatever debris you can find, and you’ll be free to take out the rest of the Operators in this area without fear of reinforcements.Head back to where the Recycler was and look for stairs leading up to a higher platform.
Sneak along the left to get behind a Turret and hack it to take out the nearby Operator, then move up the next stairway to the other turret - which should clear out all remaining Operators. Return to the center raised area to raid all the toolboxes for items, and look for a terminal overlooking the Mechanic Facilities door to hack Frank Jones’ level 2 terminal for some emails. On the other side of the terminal, put out the fires leading into the cage below to pick up more loot, and look on the right side to find the body of Scott Parker who holds the Shuttle Control Room Keycard, and the Wrench Fabrication Plan on the seat next to him. Side Mission Update - Derelict Shuttle: Get some distance from the Talos 1 by flying out, and then look for a space shuttle covered in Coral floating off in the distance. A Weaver is usually here among the wreckage, since there’s no cover you’ll have to charge it and disable it with Psychoshock if you can. After defeating it, look among the coral for a blown door to find the remains of Hunter Hale who was killed in the decompression. Check his body for a Pistol and TranScribe Audiolog - Mayday: Bridge.
Towards the cockpit you’ll find two Volunteer corpses and a briefcase that holds a Typhon Lure Fabrication Plan and Neuromod. In the back are yet two more volunteer corpses, as well as an unpowered door to the hold. If you have enough spare parts, repair the nearby computer to restore emergency power and open the door. Inside are two luggage suitcases with a Weapon Upgrade Kit and another Neuromod.
Shuttle Bay. Side Mission Update - Escape Attempt: Back inside Talos 1, return to the Escape Pod Bay and launch Pod 2 if you really want these people to escape (Despite Frank basically dooming the other people in the Shuttle Bay by locking himself in with Emmanuella. If you decide to help them get out, Emmanuella will thank you by giving you the location of a secret briefcase.
It’s located above the locker room on the ceiling, inside a briefcase, and contains 2 Neuromods. Command Shuttle Inside the shuttle, you’ll find neither Dahl nor his tech officer onboard. Instead, help yourself to the nearby Neuromod and other food items. The back door leads to a locked cargo room, so head to the cockpit instead to find Dahl’s personal terminal. Search for the Mission Parameters file to get a recording from dear old Daddy Yu. It seems he really wanted to make sure there were no survivors, and asked that the tech officer be relocated to an ideal location to break through the space station’s firewalls.
This can be one of many locations chosen randomly: Neuromod Division, Hardware Labs, Psychotronics, or the Talos 1 Exterior. No matter where KASPAR is hiding, it’s best to return to the Talos 1 Lobby, as things are about to take a turn. Side Mission - Dahl Ultimatum: However, before you get very far, Dahl will call you with an ultimatum. He’s shutting off the oxygen in the cargo bay, meaning all the survivors like Sarah Elazar will soon die in 15 minutes - unless you can restore it in the Life Support area, but Dahl will likely be waiting. Life Support Entering the Life Support area, be ready to take out more Military Operators - some of which may be locked in a battle against a nearby Telepath. Sneak into the Atmosphere Control Room, and remember you can duck into the nearby bathroom to slip into the large area on the side.
Side Mission Update - Incapacitate Dahl: From the entrance, Dahl waits for you in the Air Flow Control Room - but sneaking up on him to knock him out with the Disruptor Stun Gun can be a pain. For an alternative approach, sneak left into Air Filtration Control Room instead. Once inside, look for Jean Faure’s terminal that looks out across the windows at Dahl. Look in the utilities for a tab that can initiate a decontamination sequence in this area - and it looks like Dahl doesn’t have his helmet on. Doing this will cut off the air in his room, knocking him out without a fight.
As an added bonus - it will also break all the military operators in the room, and you can plug up with dispenser on the floor below with debris. All that’s left is for Igwe to transport him and prep him for Neuromod removal. Side Mission Update - Dahl Ultimatum: With Dahl out of the way, enter the Oxygen Flow Control room. Look on the right side of the room for a series of oxygen filtration devices to find a broken one on the ground. You can repair it using 2 spare parts - or if you found an intact one elsewhere on Talos 1, you can place it in to restore oxygen to your friends.Whether you killed or knocked out Dahl, be sure to loot his body for the Dahl’s Cargo Hold Keycard and his weapon.
It’s time to go find his tech support - which as it happens is another Operator. Talos 1 Exterior - If your log indicates Kaspar is hiding in space, exit the space station and fly up to where the Arboretum airlock is. He should be floating around below the airlock by a large red pillar or hiding neaby. Hardware Labs - If Kaspar is hiding somewhere in the Hardware Labs, be sure to look in the Ballistics Lab off to the side of the Atrium, and he should be plugged into a wall in the room. Neuromod Division - If Kaspar has taken up residence in Neuromod Division, you’ll need to make your way all the way back to the Simulation Labs, into the large room where the fake helicopter is. Behind the fake Looking Glass panels in this room you can find him hiding. Psychotronics - Kaspar can also hide in Psychotronics, which requires you to head to the atrium and into the Director’s Office, then down to the private Looking Glass Station - where the operator hides behind the looking glass. With Kaspar out of commission, the rest of the airlocks will open, and the rest of his Military Operators will be no more, giving you control of the station again.
Now you can finally meet up with Alex to get his Arming Key - but there’s still one last thing you can do.Neuromod Division. Side Mission Update - Incapacitate Dahl: Return to the Neuromod Atrium (if you didn’t get Kaspar here, all the Military Operators will blow up upon entry). Head upstairs to the Volunteer Testing chamber and you’ll find Igwe with the captive Kaspar. Igwe will ask that you not say anything about what has happened - and hopefully Dahl, forgetting his true objective, will revert to previous orders and help pilot the shuttle out.
Engage the surgical procedure by putting him in the harness, performing a neural scan, and then begin the surgery. After Dahl gets his new orders, the door to the surgery bay will open, and you can help yourself to a Neuromod and three Nullwave Transmitters for your trouble.Head back to the Arboretum, and before meeting with Alex, make sure you’ve done everything except explore the bridge - we have a promise to keep from Danielle Sho that takes us there, so you may as well stop by quickly.Talos 1 Bridge Entering the bridge, you’ll likely find a destroyed turret next to the body of Matt Cothron, who holds a Silenced Pistol Ammo Fabrication Plan as well as the pistol itself.
Before entering the Command Deck, note the elevator down to the Escape Pod Bay - where a certain tracker is emanating from. Side Mission Update - Danielle Sho: Entering the Escape Pod Bay, look for a lit up pod on the far left to find the imposter cook and former volunteer, severely wounded and strapped in. He’ll plead with you to help him launch the pod - but you should note the nearby Recycler Charge next to him. He’ll activate it if you come close enough to him in an attempt to kill you both. You can either trigger it from afar to get some justice, or just disarm it and he’ll die shortly after realizing his plan failed. Be sure to help yourself to the briefcase he stashed nearby - it holds 2 Neuromods.Following the corridor right leads to the Command Deck where a Voltaic Phantom patrols.
After killing it, start searching the area. To the right past the body of Spencer Ogden (who holds a Suit Chipset) is a Security Terminal where you can download the area map. On the desk next to the terminal is Matt’s TranScribe Audiolog: Shuttle Secret.Nearby is the body of Izumi Minami, and on a desk near her is another TranScribe Audiolog: Checking on SOS.
This would normally start a sidquest to find the missing Kirk Remmer in the Life Support Escape Pod Bay - but you’ve likely already found him - as a Typhon.Opposite the wing where the Security Terminal is, you can find Penny Tennyson’s Terminal with some emails on it about a surprise birthday party in the Briefing Room - which is sadly locked for the moment. However, down in the Command Deck pit, you can find the body of Omar Bolivar, and he carries the Briefing Room Keycard.
Skye Braxton’s terminal is also nearby and holds an email - and the main Talos 1 Monitoring Terminal lets you see better views of the space station on the Looking Glass panels.Briefing Room Unlock the door to the Briefing Room and sneak up on the Voltaic Phantom to take it down, and be on the lookout for a Mimic. Now you can check the doomed party for the body of Skye Braxton - who holds a Scope Chipset - as well as lots of food, and a Huntress Boltcaster.
Up on the walkway near the door is the body of Perry Fullbright who died in front of a level 1 locked safe. Hack it to find a Weapon Upgrade Kit, Nullwave Transmitter and 2 Neuromods. The only other door here leads to a maintenance hall that wraps around the back of the Looking Glass installation where you can find an Engineering Operator Dispenser.Captain’s Loft Back in the Command Deck, head up the stairs opposite the Briefing Room to find the Captain’s Loft where a Mimic hides. You’ll find the body of the captain - Jada Marks, and she holds a Silenced Pistol, her Jada Marks’ Cabin Keycard, a Neuromod, and a TranScribe Audiolog: Full Evacuation. Near the back of the room, Bill Nixon-Greene’s body is on a couch, and he also holds the Briefing Room Keycard, and his suitcase holds a Scope Chip.
